Press Club denies any connivance with the proposed Shantiniktan Medical College, news against club was deliberate and an attempt to malign the image of the club Managing Committee.

Agartala, July 12 (FD) The Agartala Press Club managing committee today resolutely denied having any link with the management of the rpoposed ‘Shanti Niketan’ medical college and have asserted that in case any alleged unholy link between the press club and the ‘Shanti Niketan’ medical college is proved the entire committee will resign their posts.
The Press Conference was convened by the Managing Committee to suitably clarify and to make their stand clear in regard a report published in a section of media regarding unholy relation between the proposed medical college.
The Members of the managing committee headed by the incumbent president Jayanta Bhattacharya today held a press conference in which a written statement was circulated.
The Managing Committee members in a press conference and later in a press statement stated that there was a deliberate attempt to malign the image of the managing committee.
It was clearly stated by the president, Jayanta Bhattacharya and members of the managing committee that the Press Club is in no way connected with the ‘Shanti Niketan’ medical college . It was only once that a section of members of the managing committee had visited the medical college at their invitation and a picture of this was posted on the page of the official ‘Facebook’ of the Agartala Press Club.
Bhattacharya also clarified that initially one ‘Whatsapp’ group was opened in the name of Agartala Press Club and then in the name of ‘Agartala Press Group’ without prior information from the members of the managing committee and as soon as this came to notice all the office bearers of the managing committee dissociated themselves from the ‘Whatsapp’ group by a decision.
The statement stated that the Agartala Press Club never had connived or indulged in any activity detrimental to law and interests of the Club. “We always take all decisions on the basis of agreement in a transparent manner and implement them; we also clearly and categorically proclaim in the context of allegations brought against us that in case anyone proves these allegations to be true within next forty eight hours all the members of the managing committee will tender their resignations” the statement added.
