On the second day of her state visit to Slovakia, President Droupadi Murmu attended a special performance of the Ramayan Puppet Show, a unique cultural presentation aimed at bringing Indian traditions closer to the Slovak people.
The show, inspired by the epic Indian tale of the Ramayana, was curated by Lenka Mukova, a Slovak puppeteer and devoted admirer of India. Mukova has spent over 30 years using puppetry as a medium to educate children and promote cultural storytelling.
The event not only showcased the timeless values of the Ramayana—such as truth, loyalty, and righteousness—but also served as a bridge of cultural exchange between India and Slovakia. The performance was well-received, with audiences appreciating the blend of Indian heritage and Slovak artistic interpretation.
In addition to the puppet show, President Murmu visited a painting exhibition titled “Beauty Hidden in Fairy Tales – India through the Eyes of Slovak Children.” The exhibition featured artwork by Slovak children inspired by Indian stories and culture, reflecting a growing interest and appreciation of India among the younger generation in Slovakia.
These cultural initiatives underline the importance of fostering people-to-people connections and mutual understanding through art and tradition. President Murmu’s participation in these events highlights India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through shared cultural experiences.
