Agartala, Aug 18: Newly elected President of India, Droupadi Murmu will visit Tripura on September 9 next to join the platinum jubilee celebration of Maharaja Bir Bikram College.
In order to mark the 75th foundation day of the college the state administration will organize various programmes for five-day in a row starting from September 5.
In this connection, Education minister Ratanlal Nath on Wednesday chaired a preparatory meeting at the civil secretariat.
As per the decisions taken in the meeting, a colourful rally will be organized on September 5 at 6:30 am. The rally will traverse through various roads in the capital city.
Besides, an exhibition gallery of the college will also be inaugurated on the same day.
The other decisions taken in the meeting included seat and draw competition, Swachata Abhiyan and tree plantation, sweets and fruits distribution among the patients of cancer hospital, educational kits distribution to an orphanage, Inter-college Football Tournament, cultural events, blood donation camp and seminar etc.
The closing ceremony will take place on September 9 in presence of President Droupadi Murmu, Governor SatyadeoNarain Arya, Chief Minister Dr. ManikSaha and other dignitaries.
As part of the valedictory function, a cultural event will be held where the artists from Kolkata will perform.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Chairman of Tripura Tea Development Corporation Santosh Saha, former VC of Tripura University Dr. Arunoday Saha, secretary of Higher Education department Abhishek Singh, Director N.C. Sharma, Director of ICA department Ratan Biswas, former Principal of MBB College Prof. Mihir Deb, senior journalist Sanjib Deb and others were present in the preparatory meeting.
