Agartala, Oct 10 (FD) President Droupadi Murmu, who would pay two-day maiden visit to Tripura, from Wednesday would inaugurate number of developmental projects, official sources said.
Sources said adequate security measures were taken in and around the capital town in view of the visit of the president adding that DGP of Tripura, Amitava Ranjan was personally supervising the security arrangements.
A high level security team from Delhi has already arrived to supervise the security arrangements and keeping in touch with the state police officials.
She would dedicate the transshipment yard for the nation, which was built at Nischintapur near here for the Agartala-Akhaura international railway line, officials said.
The President, who is scheduled to land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport here at 11.15 am on Wednesday, would dedicate the transshipment yard at Nischintapur, the railway station for 15 km long Agartala-Akhaura (Bangladesh) railway track, scheduled to be operational by the end of this year.
She would also flag off Guwahati - Kolkata express up to Agartala and extend Agartala-Jiribam-Agartala Jan Satabdi express up to Khongsang (Manipur) with new LHB rake and Vista dome coach, sources said.
She would also lay the foundation stone of the century-old iconic Pushpabanta Palace, built by an erstwhile Maharaja of Tripura in 1917, which is being developed as a national-level digital museum and cultural centre and National Law University at Narsinghgarh in West Tripura district.
The palace was the guest house of the king Maharaja Birendra Kishore Mankya Bahadur, where Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore stayed several times during his visits to Tripura.
The president would be accorded a civic reception by the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) at Town Hall here in presence of the Mayor of the city, Dipak Majumder and Chief Minister Manik Saha and his cabinet colleagues.
She would also visit the Tripureswari temple at Udaipur in Gomati district, about 60 km from here, which is considered as one of the 51 Shaktipiths of India and would also meet the political leaders of different parties.
President would leave for Guwahati on Oct 13, sources said. FD JK
