President Draupadi Murmu approves two new judges for Tripura High Court

Agartala, Oct 19 (FD) In a significant development, the President of the country, Draupadi Murmu, has given her consent to the appointment of Sabyasachi Dutta Purkayastha and Biswajit Palit as new judges for the High Court of Tripura.
A special notification in this regard was issued by the Special Secretary in the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. The two newly appointed justices will be sworn in by Tripura High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Sinha on a date to be announced soon.
With these appointments, the strength of judges in the Tripura High Court will increase to five, as there are currently only three judges, including Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Sinha, T. Amarnath Gour, and Arindam Lodh. It is worth noting that Biswajit Palit will initially be appointed as an additional judge and later confirmed as a regular judge.
Before their appointments as justices, Biswajit Palit served as the state's law secretary, while Sabyasachi Dutta Purkayastha held the position of director of the Tripura Judicial Academy.
The selection of these two judges by the Supreme Court collegium was finalised in consultation with the Union Ministry of Law and Justice, marking a crucial development in the state's judicial system. FD SB
