Agartala, May 11 (FD) TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday evening at New Delhi.
Pradyot in a social media post wrote, "Met the Home Minister of India this evening! We had discussion on the indigenous people of Tripura and not politics because I am committed to our people and not post. He was very keen and warm and understood the problems of the indigenous people of our state...”
The meeting comes in the midst of allegations of clandestine reasons behind Motha's hobnobbing with the BJP, despite the former being the prime opposition party.
Opposition CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chaudhary, who was earlier seen as close to Pradyot, has recently fallen out with him as Chaudhury was seen seen claiming the interlocutor Pradyot, is banking on is an "eyewash". Pradyot, on the other hand, veered away from his previous stand of sharing a cordial relation with the Communist party leader and said Jitendra Chaudhary wouldn't even be an MLA, hadn't Motha decided to skip fielding candidate at Sabroom seat, where the CPIM leader contested and won.
While no other specific information could be sourced about the meeting, Pradyot's social media post itself is crucial since his party leaders including Opposition leader Animesh Debbarma earlier said Assam Chief Minister and North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) chairperson Himanta Biswa Sarma would be making all statements regarding progress in the interlocutor appointment and visit.
On the interlocutor visit, Pradyot's social media post said AK Mishra, who is also acting as MHA interlocutor for the Naga peace talks, would arrive at Agartala from Manipur on May 12. FD JK
