Agartala, Sep 7 (FD) In a recent social media post, the prominent leader and royal scion Pradyot Kishore entered the ongoing debate surrounding the name of our nation, advocating for 'Bharat' over 'India. Kishore's post questions his former party, the Congress, over their objections to the use of 'Bharat' in place of 'India.'
Pradyot pointed out that historically, India has been referred to as 'Bharat' since ancient times, dating back to the Puranas and epics. He cited the Vishnu Purana, which explicitly states that the region between the Himalayas in the north and the seas in the south is known as Bharatis, and the country is known as Bharat. He also noted that even the Indian Constitution's Article 1 declares, India, that is, Bharat, is a union of states."
While some speculate about the political implications of his stance, Kishore's conviction appears rooted in his belief as a true nationalist. He refrains from providing further interpretation, leaving his comment to speak for itself.
The naming controversy continues to be a topic of discussion, with Kishore's passionate support for 'Bharat' adding a unique perspective to the ongoing dialogue. FD SB
