Agartala, March 10 (FD) Two days after swearing-in of the council of minister in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Friday allocated portfolios to the newly appointed eight ministers and kept the major portfolio in his hand.
He kept the departments of Power Home, Health and Family Welfare, PWD and all other departments which were not allocated to any Minister.
Saha allocated Power, Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, and Election departments to Ratan Lal Nath, who earlier held the portfolios of Education and Law departments.
The position of the former Agriculture and Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy was upgraded, who was allotted the portfolios of the departments of power, Finance, Planning and Coordination and Information Technology.
Former Information and Cultural affairs minister, Sushanta Chowdhury was allotted Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Tourism departments.
Santana Chakma, the lone women minister in the cabinet, who earlier held the departments of Social Welfare, was allocated the departments of Industries and Commerce, Jail (Home) and Welfare of OBC.
Among the newly inducted Ministers Tinku Roy was given the berths of Youth Affairs, Sports, Social Welfare and Social Education and Labour.
BJP’s tribal leader, Bikash Debbarma was given the charges of Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts and Sericulture and Statistics.
Chief Minister allocated the departments of Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Animal Resources and Fisheries to Sudhangshu Das, who is also a newly inducted minister.
Sukla Charan Noatia, the only MLA from IPFT, an ally of the saffron party was allotted the departments of Cooperation, Tribal Welfare (TRP & PTG) and Welfare of Minorities. FD JK
