Agartala, Nov 05 (FD) Bishalgarh police have so far arrested five people in connection with the recent political violence in Rautkhala of Bishalgarh in Sipahijala district.
After four arrests and diffusion of two live bombs on Thursday, the police on Friday arrested another accused in connection with the recent political violence.
The arrested person was identified as Billal Miah of Nodiluck area would be produced before the court on Saturday, police said.
SP Sepahijala- B.J. Reddy in a press conference said that the investigation is going on in the right direction. Several teams have been formed to probe the incident. Addl. SP Ranabir Debbarma is monitoring the investigation process.
Police said that the source of bombs and pistol which were used during the clash would be revealed. As of now, five persons have been arrested in connection with the BJP-Congress clash.
Earlier, the police arrested four accused belonging to Congress for their alleged involvement in the violence in a political clash at Routhkhala area in Bishalgarh on Wednesday. A forensic team and Bomb squad of Tripura police diffused two live bombs on Thursday.
The four arrested persons were- Prabir Saha, Bapan Saha, Sohel Rana and Madhav Debnath.
The other accused persons are absconding; police are conducting searches to nab them.
Leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar on Thursday condemned BJP for allegedly attacking Congress activists at Routhkhala in Bishalgarh.
He told reporters that the BJP activists had attacked Congress workers when they went there to open their closed party office.
Tension prevailed high at Routhkhala and adjoining areas in Bishalgarh subdivision of Sepahijala district following a clash between the activists of opposition Congress and ruling BJP over installation of flags and festoons on Wednesday, police said today.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC was imposed in the area by the Sub-divisional Magistrate of Bishalgarh on Wednesday night.
Superintendent of police, Sepahijala, B J Reddy said, trouble started when the activists of both the parties tried to install flags and fastoons.
“The BJP activists alleged that when some Congress activists objected to installation of flags and festoons near their office and attacked them. The Congress activists also labeled the same charge and alleged that BJP workers first attacked them. We are investigating the case”, he said.
When Congress claimed that six of their activists were injured, BJP alleged that nine activists of BJP were injured.
Meanwhile, Leader of the opposition, Manik Sarkar on Thursday alleged that BJP workers launched an unprovoked attack on the Congress activists when they went to Routhkhala to open their party office.
“The BJP has let loose a reign of terror in the state ahead of the state assembly elections. They attacked Congress activists when they tried to open their closed office. Many of our (CPM) offices were also closed by ruling BJP earlier. We condemn the attack”, he told a press conference here on Thursday. FD PD JK
