Police in Dharmanagar seize Rs 90 lakh worth of 'Yaba' tablets, arrest two peddlers

Agartala, Jun 29 (FD) Police in Dharmanagar, led by SP Bhanupada Chakraborty, have made a significant seizure of contraband 'Yaba' tablets valued at Rs 90 lakhs in the black market. This operation comes swiftly after another major drug bust involving 'Heroin' tablets worth Rs 2 crores.
Acting on tips, a police team strategically set up a trap between Noagang market and Dharmanagar town. Their efforts paid off when they intercepted a Scooty carrying two individuals near Radha Raman Ashram. The suspects, identified as Moni Halam (21) and Realsi Halam (24), both tribal youths, were promptly apprehended.
A thorough search of the Scooty revealed 18,000 'Yaba' tablets hidden within, estimated to be worth Rs 90 lakhs in illegal markets. SP Bhanupada Chakraborty underscored the significance of the arrests, emphasizing an ongoing investigation to uncover more details about the drug network and identify key operatives.
The detained individuals are set to appear in Dharmanagar court today, where authorities will seek remand for further investigation into the case. FD SB
