Agartala, Aug 01 (FD) Tripura police apprehended seven individuals who presented fake Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) as job credentials during an SSC (Staff Selection Commission) aspirants' interview at the Salbagan BSF frontier headquarters.
Investigations revealed that all the accused, who were pretending to be Tripura residents, were found to be residents of Bihar.
Local job aspirants attending the interview at the BSF frontier headquarters were quick to identify the fake certificate holders, who had illicitly registered themselves as permanent residents of Tripura, exploiting a nefarious broker racket. This deceptive tactic aimed to take advantage of the state's job quotas in central armed forces positions.
Acting on the tip-off from the locals, the police swiftly intervened and took the fake certificate holders to the New Capital Complex police station for interrogation.
Earlier, a similar case emerged on July 28, when a Bihar resident was arrested for registering as a permanent resident of Tripura by paying a staggering sum of Rs 1 lakh.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has directed Chief Secretary JK Sinha to investigate the matter and implement remedial measures.
However, efforts made by NSUI state president Samrat Roy, who acted as a whistleblower, to meet with the Chief Minister remained unanswered.
Roy emphasized that the issue directly impacts the future of the state's youth and urged the government to proactively dismantle this unscrupulous racket of brokers.
