Agartala, March 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP-IPFT government in Tripura on March 8, official sources said today.
Sources said a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, J K Sinha was held today at the civil secretariat here for preparation of holding the swearing –in-ceremony of the government at Rajbhavan here and the visit of the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is the chairman of North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), arrived here today for an organizational meeting with the BJP legislature party.
BJP MP from Tripura, Rebati Tripura said senior party leaders and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states will also be invited in the swearing-in-ceremony.
Meanwhile, the outgoing chief minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha tendered his resignation from the post of chief minister to the governor Satyadeo Narayan Arya in the Raj Bhawan yesterday.
The governor asked him to continue as care-taker chief minister until formation of the new government.
“I have tendered my resignation to the Governor, who asked me to continue as the Chief Minister till the new government is formed”, Saha told reporters after meeting the governor.
He said that the swearing in of the new government is tentatively fixed for the 8th March when the new ministers of the government will be sworn in by the governor in Raj Bhawan.
Replying to a question, he said he did not stake claim to form the government because the chief minister’s name will be decided at the legislature party meeting.
The spokesman of the BJP, Subrata Chakraborty said that the date of meeting of the legislature party was yet to be fixed.
However, sources in BJP said Saha would take over as chief minister again as there is no chance of changing the guard.
The BJP-IPFT alliance has secured absolute majority by winning 33 seats in the sixty-member assembly in Tripura, the elections for which was held on Feb 16 last. FD JK
