PM Modi & President Macron Discuss Geopolitical Developments in Europe, West Asia & Indo-Pacific

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron exchanged views on recent geopolitical developments in Europe, West Asia, and the Indo-Pacific during their talks. Briefing media in Marseille, he said that the leaders discussed a number of issues of global and regional importance.
Mr. Misri said the leaders travelled together to Marseille in the French presidential aircraft, which is an exceptional gesture by President Macron. He noted that it is emblematic not only of the deep personal trust between the two leaders but also of the remarkable confidence that they have in each other, which characterises the relationship as well. He added that Prime Minister Modi and President Macron held discussions on board the aircraft on several issues, which continued upon landing in Marseille, where they were joined by their larger delegations.
The Foreign Secretary said Artificial Intelligence (AI) was a major area of bilateral discussion between the two sides. The two sides agreed to observe next year as India France Year of Innovation, which will focus on tech, innovation, and startups, he added.
