PM Modi announces Ex-Gratia for Tripura Flood Victims, 32 dead

Agartala, Aug 31(FD) Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced an Ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the recent devastating flood in Tripura and Rs 50 thousand each for those who sustained serious injuries, official sources said.
This financial assistance will be given from the prime minister’s national relief fund.
Making this announcement last night, Chief Minister Manik Saha wrote on X, “My heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji for announcing PMNRF ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the floods & Rs 50,000 for the seriously injured. Your compassion brings huge support in these difficult times”.
At least 32 people lost their lives, two others were injured, 1.5 lakh people were displaced and forced to take refuge in government buildings.
More than 17 lakh people were affected in the flood that created disaster, which existed from August 19-24. Two persons are still missing.
Meanwhile, an inter-ministerial central team headed by Joint Secretary B C Joshi arrived in the state in a two-day visit and made an on the spot study of the devastation caused by the flood.
The team met the Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday before leaving for Delhi.
“The inter-ministerial central team meets me. I received an assurance from the team that they would promptly submit their report, which will aid in securing further assistance for the flood victims,” Saha wrote in X.
He also expressed his gratitude to the central government for supporting the flood-affected people in Tripura, he said. FD
