Agartala, Feb 11(FD): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday alerted the people of Tripura that two evil forces - Congress and CPI (M) joined hands and another force was indulging them from behind and giving them votes would bring disastrous effect in the state.
Addressing two election rallies at Ambassa in Dhalai district and Udaipur in Gomati district Modi said, “The two evil forces like Cong and CPI (M) have joined hands and another force was indulging them from behind before the elections. Giving those votes means inviting disastrous effects in the state”.
Making a veiled reference to Tipra Motha, Modi claimed that some other parties were also helping the opposition alliance from behind but any vote for them will take Tripura several years backward.
“Old players of misgovernance have joined hands for ‘chanda’ (donation). Those fighting ‘kushti’ (wrestling) in Kerala have done ‘dosti’ (friendship) in Tripura,” the PM said at an election rally in Radhakishorepur in Gomati district.
“The opposition wants to divide the votes. Some small ‘vote-cutter’ parties are waiting for the election results, hoping to get their price. Those out with dreams of horse-trading, lock them in their homes now itself,” he said
He said during the rule of Congress and CPI (M) the state was moving towards backwardness, but when the double engine government was established in Tripura in the last five years peace was established and the state started developing.
Prime minister said the flags of all political parties are seen in the state, but there was a time when only one flag used to be seen and if any party showed their flags then their houses were set ablaze and there was also a time people were forced to pay them subscriptions for anything.
“The BJP has freed the people from forcible collection of subscriptions and fear and established the rule of law”, he said.
Modi said the employees were getting salaries under old scales, but now they get under seventh pay commissions recommendations and added that the women were earlier tortured and now they are being empowered.
He said that triple power –accommodation, healing and income (Awas, arogya and aya) provided by the double engine government in Tripura is making life comfortable for all sections of people in the state.
More than three lakh families have received dwellings under the PMAY scheme which benefitted more than 12 lakh people directly.
The Prime Minister said, poor people were brought under Ayusman Yojana upto five lakhs for their treatment and many hospitals were also built.
“Had the BJP were not in power the people of the state would not receive the benefits? The first dental College was set up in Tripura under the BJP government”, he said.
Modi said toilets were built in four lakh houses, drinking water connections were given to four lakh houses and three lakh gas connections were given under Ujjala Yojana.
He alleged the Congress and CPI-M had betrayed the people and people had suffered under the left and Congress rule.
Prime minister said that he had made a promise to give the HIRA model of government before the last assembly elections and worked hard to fulfill his commitment.
Explaining that HIRA means highways, internet ways, railways and airways, he said, works for four lane from Agartala to Churaibari is being implemented very fast, a beautiful new airport was inaugurated at Agartala on January 4 last year, optical fibers are being laid throughout the state for better internet facilities and waterways and rail connectivity is being built between Tripura and Bangladesh.
“Due to fast implementation of ‘Act East’ policy Tripura is emerging as the gateway of South Asia which would bring benefits for the youths of the state”, he said. FD JK
