Agartala, Jan 2: Former Chief Minister of Tripura and Rajya Sabha MP Biplap Kumar Deb on Monday criticized the opposition political parties for not heeding the aspirations of the people of the state, who wanted to end the rule of the Marxists nearly a decade ago.
Addressing a gathering at Fatikroy, in Unakoti district on the occasion of Bijoy Sankalp rally he alleged that the Congress and the CPI-M always had a clandestine understanding so the central leaders of both the parties did not respond to the demand of the common masses to “Oust the corrupt Marxists rule in Tripura”.
“Even as people wanted a change in 2003 and 2008, it is due to the clandestine understanding at the central level between Congress and CPI-M the Marxists government could not be defeated”, he said.
He said, some opposition left parties including CPI-M and Congress have recently published a joint statement against the BJP government and appealed to defeat the party in the next elections due next month.
“This joint statement only shows that the Congress and CPI-M always had a clandestine understanding and now it has come to the fore”, he said.
Deb said, BJP’s vote share was only 1.5 percent before the 2018 assembly elections, but due well coordinated efforts by the party leaders and coupled with the blessings of the common masses the BJP could win the elections and a history was created.
He said after the saffron party came to power and good governance delivered by the government, people’s overall income has increased and more than 15% people in the state were paying GST.
Deb also appealed to the voters to defeat the ‘Congress-CPI-M camp’ in the ensuing elections due next month. FD PD JK
