Agartala, July 31 (FD) As a sign of solidarity, the Women Commission of the Diocese of Agartala, in conjunction with various NGOs, Parishes, Schools, and Colleges, organized a silent Peace rally and Candlelight procession in support of the victims of Manipur. The rally commenced at Heritage Park and culminated at the Circuit House junction.
Around 1000 people participated in the ceremony, including students, women, religious men, and well-wishers, all of whom came together to condemn the horrible atrocities committed against women in Manipur over the previous three months.
Sr. Jollyy Kottarathil FS, the convener of the rally and the secretary of the Commission of Women, passionately expressed the need to end the prolonged violence and strife in the region.
Carrying banners placards, and lit candles, the attendees marched in silence, seeking to draw the nation's attention to the plight of the people in Manipur. The message was clear: an urgent call for peace and harmony and an end to all forms of violence.
Addressing the crowd, Sr. Jollyy Kottarathil FS stated, "The atrocities against human beings are beyond limit, and we strongly condemn this. Instead, we need to create an atmosphere of peace and harmony and a fearless society to live in. Let us realize that each one of us is directly or indirectly responsible for creating a peaceful society."
The protestors thanked the authorities for allowing them to organize the march and emphasized the need to band together to speak out against the injustices experienced by the Manipuri people.
The event concluded with a collective hope that their peaceful protest would contribute to building a more compassionate and equitable society where violence has no place and the rights of all individuals, especially women, are respected and upheld. FD SB JK
