Paris Olympics 2024: Indian Shooter Swapnil Kusale clinches third Bronze medal for India

In the 2024 Paris Olympics, a mixed fortune for the Indian contingent on day 6. Shooter Swapnil Kusale secured India’s third bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics shooting competition after finishing third in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions final at the National Shooting Centre in Châteauroux. The 28-year-old shooter finished third with 195 in standing after 156.8 in the prone and 153.3 in the kneeling rounds. He has become the first Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event. However, in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions, both Anjum Moudgil and Sift Kaur failed to reach the qualifying round and finished with a score of 196 after the kneeling series. That puts Anjum in ninth position, which is one spot below the qualification places. Sift Kaur Samra, on the othaer hand, is totally at sea. She has a total score of 193 and is placed 25th.In boxing, Nikhat Zareen lost to top-seeded Wu Yu of China in the round of 16 in the 50 kg event, and in hockey, India lost to Belgium 2-1 in the Group B qualifier. The Indian team has already qualified for the quarterfinal.
In badminton, Lakshya Sen defeated compatriot HS Prannoy 21-12, 21-6 to advance into the quarterfinals of men’s singles.
However, the Pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost to Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, PV Sindhu will go up against China’s He Bing Jiao later in the evening in a rematch of their Tokyo Olympics bronze medal match. While Sindhu won the bronze by beating Bing Jiao.
