Agartala, Feb 18 (FD) The opposition legislators of the Tripura assembly today skipped the review meeting of the centrally sponsored schemes held in the conference hall of the District Magistrate of West Tripura district, which was chaired by the former Chief Minister and the incumbent MP of the West Tripura district Biplab Kumar Deb.
However, all the BJP members had joined the meeting and took part in the discussion.
Reacting to the opposition legislators, Deb said, “They did not join the review meeting of the 47 centrally sponsored schemes. They are people of different species and going to extinct soon”.
However, former minister Sudip Roy Burman also reacted sharply saying, “How can he show disha (aim), when he himself is dishahin (aim less). This kind of meeting does not carry meaning full discussions. Why should I spoil my time there?” he asked.
CPI-M MLA, Nayan Sarkar said he could not join the meeting because he had important works in his constituency at Bamutia.
Another Congress MLA, Gopal Roy said, “Yes, I escaped the meeting because in the invitation they did not show any agenda of discussion. So, why should I go in such a meeting?” FD JK
