Opposition delegation meets Chief Minister over communal issues in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 17 (FD) A delegation of the opposition CPI (M) headed by the state secretary Jiten Chowdhury on Saturday met Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and expressed concern at the simmering tensions at Kadamtala following communal conflicts in the area.
The delegation comprising senior CPI-M leader Manik Dey and Kadamtala MLA Islamuddin discussed the issues regarding communal polarization at Gandatwisa, Kadamtala, Kaitorbari and Pekucherra and urged the chief minister, who is also the home minister of the state to restore peace and communal harmony in the state.
During discussion they also raised the issues of unemployment and price rise of essential commodities in the state.
It is learnt that Chief Minister assured the delegation to take positive steps to resolve the issues.
The issues they discussed are proving financial assistance and a job to the family of the youth killed in CRPF firing at Kadamtala on October 6, expenses of treatment of those injured in the attacks in different places, easing bank loans for the small traders and beefing up of securities in communally charged areas.
