Agartala, Sept 10 (FD) Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has instructed officials to complete the construction of the national highway stretching from Champaknagar to Ranirbazar while maintaining the highest quality standards. He emphasized that all government guidelines related to national highway construction must be strictly followed and completed on time.
The minister was speaking at a high-level review meeting held at the Jirania Sub-Divisional Office conference hall, where progress of various developmental projects was assessed. Highlighting the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, Chowdhury directed officials to speed up road repair works, ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, resolve drinking water issues, and maintain law and order effectively.
He further instructed Block Development Officers (BDOs) and concerned officials to ensure timely payment of wages to workers engaged under MGNREGA and TUEP schemes before the festive season.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing works under departments including Water Resources, Social Welfare & Social Education, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Fire & Emergency Services, Forest, Rural Development, and Food. The discussions focused on progress, implementation challenges, and necessary measures to accelerate development initiatives.
Several dignitaries and officials attended the meeting, including Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, Jirania Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Ratan Kumar Das, Ranirbazar Municipality Chairperson Aparna Shukla Das, BAC Chairmen Shubhamani Debbarma and Roken Debbarma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Animesh Dhar, SDPO Sudhir Kumar, Additional SDM Pamela Saha, Jirania BDO Tushar Alam, along with social workers and senior departmental officers.
Chowdhury reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring smooth civic amenities and effective coordination among departments so that citizens can celebrate the upcoming festivities without inconvenience. FD SB
