Nuclear weapons are not safe in hands of Pakistan, it should be taken over by IAEA: Defence Minister

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today said that Operation Sindoor is India’s impregnable and strong response to terror being exported from Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, for the last several decades now.

Addressing troops at the  Army’s 15 Corps Badami Bagh Cantonment, he commended the Indian armed forces for their valour, bravery and meticulous work while executing Operation Sindoor. He said the country is proud of the armed forces for their courage, commitment and determination in safeguarding the motherland.

He said, the whole world has seen how irresponsibly Pakistan has threatened India. Questioning the safety of nuclear weapons in the hands of Pakistan, he said Pakistan’s nuclear weapons should be taken under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

This is his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after India launched Operation Sindoor to target terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Rajnath Singh said he arrived in Srinagar to convey the appreciation, felicitation and greetings of the people of the country for the soldiers’ courage and dedication in the successful conduct of Operation Sindoor.

Defence Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has categorically conveyed India’s approach and message against terrorism.

He also said that talks and terrorism cannot go hand in hand, and any future dialogue with Pakistan will only concern Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and terrorism.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi, and other senior military officials were also present on the occasion.
