Agartala, Oct 1 (FD) The West Tripura District administration has banned the entry of vehicles along the Agartala-Akhaura railway line section, in view of construction works from October 01 to October 03.
As the much the much awaited 15 km long Agartala-Akhaura line to connect Bangladesh railways to the rail network of India’s North-East to give a boost to the trade, commerce and connectivity in the region will soon see the light of the day.
The no entry zones were created encompassing Point No. 1 Badharghat, Point No. 2 TV Tower Crossing, and Point No. 3 Siddhi Ashram Crossing, where vehicular movement except some emergency vehicles has come to a halt from October 1, 11 pm to 5 AM of 2nd October and subsequently, from 11 PM of 2nd October to 5 AM of 3 October.
These measures are implemented in accordance with a notification issued by the District Magistrate of West District under Sections 115 and 116 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
A controlled restriction will be imposed on the movement of heavy vehicles through Point No. 4 Amtali Bypass, ensuring a smooth and secure construction process.
The notification explicitly exempts emergency vehicles from these restrictions, assuring uninterrupted access for critical services during the specified periods.
The District Magistrate of West Tripura, Debapriya Bardhan has made the notifications on Saturday.
A viaduct from Nishchintapur to Agartala railway station i.e. a railway line similar to an over bridge is now underway on the Agartala-Bishalgarh road between Badharghat and Siddiashram.
When the works for Nishchintapur railway station just near the Indo-Bangla international border was almost complete, the offices of the Land Customs Station (LCS) for passenger movement and bringing goods using this Agartala-Akhaura railway line will be finished by the end of this month.
Once this railway line is operational, Kolkata can be reached by train from Agartala via Dhaka in just 10-12 hours and the distance would be shortened from about 1600 km to 650 km. FD JK
