Agartala, May 2 (FD) Even as political controversy intensifies over the alleged distribution of more than 200 jobs through backdoor appointments in the Tipra Motha-led Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) ahead of the ADC elections, no official decision has yet been taken to cancel the disputed recruitments.
According to sources, several recipients of the appointment offers have already begun submitting their joining reports and related documents to the concerned departments, further fuelling the row over the recruitment process.
The issue has sparked sharp political reactions across the state. Opposition parties, including CPI(M) and Congress, have alleged that the appointments were made without conducting proper interviews, transparent selection procedures, or issuing public advertisements. Notably, sections within the ruling BJP have also voiced concern over the alleged irregularities within the ADC administration.
Earlier, a BJP delegation led by former MP Rebati Tripura met the Governor of Tripura, seeking cancellation of the appointment offers and intervention in the matter. Despite mounting pressure from multiple political quarters, no concrete administrative or legal action has so far been initiated.
Meanwhile, several office orders related to appointments and postings, purportedly issued by the TTAADC administration, have surfaced on social media, triggering widespread debate. One such document reportedly indicates acceptance of joining reports of newly appointed individuals and outlines their postings within ADC offices.
Political observers believe the controversy could emerge as a key issue in the upcoming ADC elections, particularly in tribal areas where government employment remains a sensitive concern.
Opposition leaders have further alleged that political considerations are hindering decisive action against the Tipra Motha-led administration. However, no official statement has been issued either by the Governor’s office or the Tipra Motha leadership regarding the possible cancellation of the appointments.
With the controversy continuing to escalate, attention is now on whether the state administration or constitutional authorities will order an inquiry into the alleged recruitment irregularities within the TTAADC. FD JK
