NLFT insurgents kill BSF jawan at Simanapur in Tripura-Mizoram-Bangladesh border

Agartala, August 19 (FD) A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed in an encounter with the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) at Simanapur, near the Khantlang Border Outpost on the Tripura-Mizoram-Bangladesh border in North Tripura district today.
BSF sources said when a contingent of BSF was patrolling the NLFT ultras hiding in jungle, possibly in Chittagong Hill Tract of neighbouring Bangladesh sprayed bullets from automatic weapons.
The constable, identified as Girish Kumar received four gun shots, when the other jawans accompanying him also retaliated by opening fire at the ultras. It was yet to be ascertained if there was any casualty in the other side.
A DIG of BSF rushed to the spot by a helicopter and rescued the jawan and admitted him at the ILS hospital here, where he succumbed to his injuries.
S.P of North Tripura district also rushed to the spot with reinforcement and launched massive combing operations in the area. FD JK
