Agartala, Aug 22 (FD) A high-level strategic consultation on Tripura’s long-term development roadmap was held at Raj Bhavan here, where NITI Aayog Member Dr. Joram Aniya met Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu to discuss key priorities under the vision of Viksit Tripura @2047.
The meeting focused on preparing a comprehensive development strategy for the state in line with India’s broader vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Discussions covered strengthening Centre-State cooperation, expanding infrastructure, boosting traditional and emerging sectors, promoting sustainable economic growth and investing in human capital.
A major area of focus was the strengthening of cooperative federalism through greater coordination between the Centre and the State. The discussions underlined the need for shared funding mechanisms, joint monitoring of development projects and faster implementation of long-pending infrastructure and energy initiatives, including projects with regional and cross-border economic significance.
The primary economy also figured prominently in the deliberations. In agriculture, emphasis was placed on value addition, expansion of cold-chain infrastructure and greater use of technology to improve productivity and farmers’ income. The meeting also discussed strengthening the animal husbandry sector through improved livestock production, disease management and the expansion of dairy cooperatives.
The development of Tripura’s bamboo sector was identified as another important priority. The discussions highlighted the potential for transforming the traditional bamboo-based economy into a large-scale, sustainable production and industrial sector capable of generating employment, supporting local entrepreneurs and expanding export opportunities.
Tourism development was also discussed as a key driver of future economic growth. Special emphasis was placed on developing heritage and eco-tourism infrastructure around iconic destinations such as Unakoti and Chabimura, with the objective of promoting them as major national and international tourism destinations while ensuring the preservation of their cultural and ecological heritage.
The roadmap further stressed investment in youth development through improved sports infrastructure and vocational skill-building initiatives tailored to the needs and potential of the northeastern region. Strengthening grassroots sports facilities and expanding opportunities for skill development were identified as important components of human capital development.
Among the key priorities discussed for achieving the Viksit Tripura @2047 vision were the expansion of multimodal logistics and connectivity infrastructure, sustainable utilisation of natural resources, global branding of the state’s cultural and heritage assets, and greater investment in skills, sports and youth empowerment.
The consultation reflected a broader effort to align Tripura’s future development strategy with national priorities while leveraging the state’s geographical location, natural resources, cultural heritage and human potential to build a stronger and more sustainable economy by 2047. FD JK
