Agartala, June 23 (FD) Tripura has earned national recognition from NITI Aayog for successfully establishing the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT) under the State Support Mission (SSM) within the stipulated timeframe. In recognition of this achievement, NITI Aayog has sanctioned an incentive grant of ₹1 crore to TIFT for the implementation of approved developmental initiatives.
Established in December 2023 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manik Saha, TIFT functions as the state government’s premier policy think tank. The institution plays a pivotal role in policy advocacy, strategic planning, data-driven decision-making, and providing multidisciplinary expertise to support Tripura’s development priorities.
The recognition reflects Tripura’s commitment to strengthening institutional frameworks and promoting evidence-based, outcome-oriented governance. Officials said the incentive support will further empower TIFT to undertake innovative projects and enhance its contribution to the state’s long-term socio-economic growth and transformation.
Adding to its growing stature at the national level, Tripura was also chosen by NITI Aayog to host and lead the “NITI-Regional Dialogue under the State Support Mission: Participation by Eastern and Northeastern States/UTs” on February 3, 2026, in Agartala. The regional workshop brought together policymakers and officials from eastern and north-eastern states and Union Territories to exchange best practices, discuss governance innovations, and strengthen collaborative development mechanisms.
The selection of Tripura to spearhead the regional dialogue highlighted the state’s increasing prominence in policy innovation and governance reforms. The event served as an important platform for knowledge-sharing and fostering stronger inter-state cooperation in achieving developmental objectives.
Officials noted that the latest recognition reinforces Tripura’s emergence as a model for institutional innovation and policy-driven governance in the Northeast. They emphasized that the state’s focus on strengthening administrative capacity, promoting accountability, and leveraging data-driven policymaking is yielding tangible results.
“This recognition reflects Tripura’s unwavering commitment to institutional strengthening and evidence-based governance. The achievement is a testament to the state’s vision of fostering innovation, accountability, and transformative development,” officials stated.
The recognition by NITI Aayog is expected to further boost TIFT’s role in supporting strategic reforms and accelerating the state’s journey towards sustainable and inclusive growth. FD JK
