NFR carries out major upgrades to Specialized S&T Training Centre at Pandu

Maligaon, Jan 22 (FD) In order to keep up with the rapid modernization of technology, and to impart state of the art training and skill development to the employees, N.F. Railway has carried out major upgradation of the Specialized S&T Training Centre at Pandu, Maligaon. These upgrades, which include digitally enabled classrooms and full-scale models of latest signalling technologies like Thick Web Switches with clamp type point machine, Multi Section Digital Axle Counters etc were inaugurated by Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR on 22nd January, 2025 along with other senior officers.
Railway signalling systems are critical for ensuring the safe operation of trains and their reliability & maintenance directly affects the safety & punctuality of trains. Hence, proper training and skill development of the Railway employees engaged in the maintenance of signals and telecom equipment’s is of paramount importance. The upgrades at the staff training centre have been caried out keeping in view the same.
The Thick Web Switch with clamp type point machine enhances safety & reliability of the points & crossings on railway tracks, as the clamp provides additional integrity of the switch and stock rail. Further, it also enables the increase of sectional speed of trains to 160 kmph. Multi Section Digital Axle Counters (MSDAC) is a Safety Integrity Level (SIL4) equipment having advance diagnostic features. It increases reliability as the system works in dual mode. Problems like waterlogging in Track circuited areas can be dealt by providing MSDAC. Internet protocol Multiprotocol Label switching is a technological advancement in Indian Railways which will enhance the communication speed and IP based technology. In addition to this, new age training methodology has been adopted by providing Interactive screen in classrooms for the trainees for better learning experience of the trainees.
N.F. Railway is continuously striving to provide modern and effective training to its employees in all aspects of railway working. This is yet another important initiative in this regard. PRESS RELEASE
