Agartala, Oct 8 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the upcoming Next-Generation GST reforms will
provide major relief to the public by simplifying the tax system and ensuring greater transparency.
Speaking at a workshop titled “Benefits from Next Generation GST” held at the Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala, Dr. Saha noted that citizens previously struggled with a complex tax structure. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the tax framework has been simplified, making it easier and clearer for taxpayers,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) had already contributed to India’s economic growth, and the upcoming reforms would further accelerate this progress. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned a Viksit Bharat by 2047, and Tripura has already prepared its roadmap to contribute to that vision,” Dr. Saha stated.
Highlighting a key reform, Dr. Saha said the new GST structure would reduce the number of tax slabs from five to two, making the process more streamlined and citizen-friendly. “The Next-Gen GST reform is a pro-people initiative with clear and effective guidelines,” he added.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, who also attended the workshop organized by the Taxes Organisation of the Finance Department, described it as “an insightful session that enhanced awareness and collaboration towards building a more efficient and transparent GST framework.” FD JK
