Agartala, May 6 (FD) A new phase of governance has begun in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) as its newly elected leadership steps into office with promises of transparency, inclusive administration, and a determined push for expanded financial resources.
Runiel Debbarma officially assumed charge as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) on Wednesday, outlining a forward-looking agenda centered on strengthening governance and accelerating development initiatives across council areas. The swearing-in ceremony also marked the induction of Chandra Kumar Debbarma as an Executive Member (EM), reinforcing the council’s administrative team.
In his first address after taking office, Debbarma emphasized the pressing need for enhanced fiscal support to meet the growing demands of the region. He acknowledged that limited funding over the past several years has posed challenges in implementing large-scale infrastructure and welfare projects. However, he reaffirmed the council’s commitment to delivering essential services despite these constraints.
The new CEM announced plans to actively engage with both the State and Central governments to secure higher budgetary allocations. He indicated that coordinated efforts involving elected representatives, including MLAs and MDCs, would be undertaken to advocate for stronger financial backing aimed at boosting regional development.
Highlighting his experience as a former Member of the District Council, Debbarma stressed the importance of grassroots governance and effective implementation of welfare schemes. He reiterated that inclusivity would remain a cornerstone of his administration, ensuring that benefits reach every section of society within TTAADC areas.
With the council assuming office at a crucial time, the leadership has set its sights on bridging the funding gap while addressing the socio-economic aspirations of the tribal population in Tripura through accountable and transparent governance. FD JK
