Agartala, June 21 (FD) The NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination commenced smoothly across Tripura on Sunday amid stringent security arrangements, with authorities reporting peaceful conduct and no untoward incidents from any examination centre.
The examination is being held at 10 centres across the state, including nine centres in West Tripura district and one centre in Dhalai district. Approximately 4,500 candidates are appearing for the re-examination.
West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar said the examination process was progressing without any disruptions and that all arrangements had been put in place to ensure a fair and secure environment for candidates.
“The NEET (UG) re-examination started smoothly without any issues. We inspected the arrangements at Kendriya Vidyalaya and other centres. In West Tripura district alone, there are nine examination venues. Candidates entered the examination halls before the stipulated time, and the biometric attendance system functioned properly. Under the supervision of National Testing Agency (NTA) representatives, the examination is being conducted seamlessly. So far, no complaints have been received, and all candidates have reached their respective centres. We are maintaining strict vigil throughout the process,” Kumar told reporters.
To ensure the peaceful conduct of the examination, the district administration has enforced prohibitory measures under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) around all examination centres.
Under the order, only candidates carrying valid admit cards, examination personnel, invigilators, and individuals authorised by the competent authority are permitted within a 100-yard radius of the examination centres. Gathering of five or more persons within the restricted zone has been prohibited to prevent any disturbance during the examination.
The administration has also banned the carrying of sticks or similar objects within the designated areas, except by security personnel. Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the restrictions.
Meanwhile, West Tripura Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak said elaborate security arrangements had been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
“Comprehensive security measures have been put in place at all centres. Personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and Tripura Police have been deployed to maintain law and order and ensure a hassle-free examination process,” Pathak said. FD JK
