Agartala, Sept 20 (FD) Tripura University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Debabrata Das on Sunday said the National Cadet Corps (NCC) plays an important role in shaping students into disciplined and responsible citizens.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the valedictory ceremony of a 15-day NCC camp at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala, Prof. Das said students were increasingly recognising the value of NCC training and voluntarily enrolling in its programmes.
“The NCC shows students the path towards becoming good citizens. Students have now realised its importance, and this is also reflected in their academic performance,” he said.
Prof. Das stressed the need for universities and colleges to encourage students to participate in NCC activities, saying such programmes contribute to their overall development beyond conventional academic learning.
He attended the valedictory ceremony as the chief guest. Major General Anurag Vij, Additional Director General of the NCC and Director of the NCC Directorate, North Eastern Region, and Lieutenant Colonel Rohan Gupta, Commanding Officer of the 15th Battalion, NCC, were also present.
Prof. Das was felicitated during the programme in recognition of his participation in the event.
The 15-day camp provided cadets with structured training aimed at developing discipline, leadership skills and a sense of civic responsibility. The programme brought together NCC personnel and cadets as part of efforts to promote character-building and national service among young people.
The ceremony marked the conclusion of the camp at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala. FD JK
