National Unity Day: Tripura CM opens State-Level programme, Run for Unity rally

Agartala, Oct 31: Along with the other parts of the country, the National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) was observed in Tripura through different programmes on the occasion of the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha inaugurated the main programme of State-Level Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at Swami Vivekananda Maidan on Monday morning.
Addressing the gathering Dr Saha said, “Today is a prideful day on preserving unity of the country.”
He said, this day is being observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas every year on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into power in 2014.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel unified about 500 small independent states to establish and strengthen unity in the country, Dr Saha added.
The Chief Minister called upon all concerned to extend their cooperation in building ‘One India Best India, One Tripura Best Tripura’.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Youth Affairs and Sport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Tribal Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia, MP Rebati Tripura, Mayor Dipak Majumder and Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha were present at the event.
Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha said, country’s unity will further strengthen through celebrating this day.
Later, the Chief Minister flagged off ‘Run for Unity’ rally from the ground. Dr Saha and other dignitaries participated in rally. FD PD
