Agartala, Feb 28 (FD) To build a developed India, the youth must be encouraged to take greater interest in science, technology, and technical fields. By implementing various science-based innovative programs, students in the state should be inspired to explore technological advancements. This will help make science more popular. Science, Technology, and Environment Minister Animesh Debbarma made these remarks while inaugurating the National Science Day 2025 event at Sukanta Academy today.
This year's National Science Day theme is "Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for a Developed India." While inaugurating the event, Minister Animesh Debbarma stated that Dr. C.V. Raman won the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his discovery of the Raman Effect. National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28 in his honor.
During the event, the Minister emphasized that the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment must raise public awareness regarding scientific and technological advancements based on people's needs. Students should be encouraged to present innovative scientific models to showcase their creativity. He also highlighted that technology is evolving rapidly, and we must adapt accordingly. To empower the youth, priority must be given to their science education, as no country or nation can progress without advancements in science and technology. Therefore, professors and teachers must motivate students to pursue science education.
The event's special guest, Dr. K. Shashikumar, Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment, emphasized that a developed India requires the growth of science and technology. To achieve this, the current generation must embrace innovative thinking and move forward. The Director of the Department of Science, Technology, and Environment, Mahendra Singh, delivered the welcome speech.
Following the inauguration, eminent scientist Dr. Avinash Chauhan, NIT Professor Mrinal Kanti Debbarma, and Associate Professor Dr. Shaoli Bardhan from Techno College of Engineering participated in a technical session, where they discussed various aspects of science and technology in detail.
As part of the event, students from various technical colleges in Tripura displayed science models based on this year's theme in the Sukanta Academy premises. The vote of thanks was delivered by Bhavatosh Dutta, Senior Scientific Officer of Sukanta Academy for Science, Arts, and Culture Auditorium. FD SB JK
