National Press Day to be observed tomorrow

Agartala, Nov 15 (FD) National Press Day would be observed tomorrow at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.
The theme of this year’s Press day is ‘changing face of media’ as suggested by the Press Council of India (PCI), a quasi judicial body headed by a retired Supreme Court Judge. The PCI came up in the year on November, 16, 1966 in accordance with a recommendation made by the first press commission in 1956.
The day would be observed jointly by the Agartala Press Club and the ICA department of the Government of Tripura.
A press statement issued by the Director of ICA, Bimbisar Bhattacharya the programme would be started at 11-00 AM, which would be inaugurated by the state Minister of Sports, Tinku Roy and would be presided over by the President of the Press Club, Jayata Bhattacharya.
Justice Arindam Lodh will grace the occasion as guest of honour while special guest will be P.K.Chakraborty, secretary ICA department.
Veteran journalist Sekhar Datta has been invited as the ‘Chief Orator’ of the programme. FD JK
