National Press Day Observed in Collaboration with Agartala Press Club

Agartala, Nov 16 (FD) The Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department, in association with the Agartala Press Club, observed National Press Day on Saturday at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here.
The programme was inaugurated by the state Sports and Labour Affairs Minister, Tinku Roy.
Three veteran journalists were felicitated on behalf of the state government for their contributions to the field of journalism. Those honoured were Miss Chitra Roy, Mohit Pal, and Supriya Datta.
The state government also announced that another veteran journalist, Biman Dhar, would be felicitated on November 29, as he was out of the station today.
Among others, Sports Minister Tinku Roy, sitting Tripura High Court Judge Arindam Lodh, and veteran journalist Sekhar Datta spoke on the occasion. The programme was presided over by the President of the Agartala Press Club.
The speakers discussed this year’s theme, ‘Changing Nature of Press’, suggested by the Press Council of India (PCI), in detail.
The minister opined that as the press continues to evolve, journalists must adapt to the changes and equip themselves to effectively handle digital technologies. FD JK
