Narcotics worth Rs 21.5 Lakh Seized Near Indo-Bangladesh Border in Tripura

Agartala, June 27 (FD) Tripura Police seized narcotic substances worth an estimated Rs 21.5 lakh during a mobile patrol near the Indo-Bangladesh Border (IBB) in the Kulubari border road area under Sepahijala district late on Friday night.

Sonamura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das said the contraband was recovered during a routine patrol along the border. The seizure included 2.5 kg of Yaba tablets (24,000 tablets) and 420 strips of Tepandotal tablets, comprising 4,200 tablets.

The recovered narcotics were seized after completing all legal formalities and registered as unclaimed property.

Police suspect the consignment was meant for illegal cross-border trafficking. A case has been registered at Sonamura Police Station, and an investigation has been launched to identify those involved in the possession and transportation of the contraband.

Officials said efforts are underway to trace the source and intended destination of the seized narcotics. FD JK
