Agartala, Feb 2 (FD): After the list of candidates for the sixty-member assembly in Tripura was finalised, the ruling BJP is gearing up for campaign in the state with a slew of star campaigners to hit the campaign trail, party sources said today.
Media in-charge of BJP, Sunit Sarakr said, BJP national president J P Nadda will address two election rallies in Amarpur in Gomati district and Pabiachhera in Unakoti district tomorrow.
He said, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, who is also the Chairman of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) will arrive in the state and address number of gatherings here and in Khowai town, about 40 km from here.
He said, Union Minister Smriti Irani and leader of the opposition of West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari and several other party leaders from Bengal will join the campaign for BJP candidates in the poll bound state.
Sarkar said, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit the state on January 6 for campaign and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will arrive on February 7 to campaign for the party.
President of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee Birajit Sinha said, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mukul Wasnik and Kanhaiya Kumar and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will campaign for the party candidates and dates would be finalised soon.
Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accompanied by party's All India national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to visit state on February 6.
She will participate in a road show on February 7 and many star campaigners of the party including MP Mahua Moitra and some Tollywood actors will join the campaign in the state, party sources said.
Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Office (CEO), Dinakarrao Kiren Gittye said, altogether 259 candidates are in the contest in the election of Feb 16. FD JK
