Agartala, June 24 (FD) Reaffirming the state government's commitment to public welfare, transparency, and prompt grievance redressal, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday interacted with people from different parts of Tripura under the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu programme at his official residence.
Describing the initiative as an important step toward building a transparent, sensitive, and accountable administration, the Chief Minister emphasized that public participation and citizens' opinions are essential for effective governance. He stated that the programme serves as a bridge between the government and the people, enabling citizens to directly share their concerns, demands, and suggestions while ensuring timely solutions to their problems.
During the interaction, several families facing serious medical challenges sought assistance from the Chief Minister. Among them were Biswajit Banik of Khowai district, whose daughter is suffering from a heart-related disease, Naresh Debbarma of Amtali seeking support for his daughter diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Jayashree Dey Chanda of Agartala requesting assistance for her husband's cancer treatment, and Pratima Rishidas seeking help for her paralyzed husband. The Chief Minister listened carefully to their concerns and directed officials to take immediate necessary action.
Several other citizens from various districts also met the Chief Minister regarding medical and welfare-related issues. He instructed the concerned departments to ensure that all genuine cases receive appropriate support and timely intervention.
In a significant gesture of humanitarian support, the Chief Minister handed over financial assistance of Rs. 3.90 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the families of Rakesh Shil, who recently drowned in a river, and two-and-a-half-year-old Sattika Sou, who tragically lost her life in the Kattakhal. Assuring the affected families of continued government support, he reiterated that the administration stands firmly beside citizens during difficult times.
The programme also highlighted the success of government intervention in the case of 22-year-old Diptanu Pal, who is undergoing treatment for a rare autoimmune disease. Following prompt assistance provided through Mukhyamantri Samipeshu, his condition has improved significantly. Once unable to walk, move his limbs, or speak, he is now steadily recovering. His family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister for the timely support.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said that addressing the problems of common people and standing beside them in times of need remains one of the government's foremost responsibilities. He added that the trust and confidence of the people continue to inspire the government to work with greater dedication toward public welfare and inclusive development.
Senior officials from the Health Department and leading government hospitals were also present during the programme, reflecting the administration's coordinated effort to deliver effective and compassionate governance across the state. FD SB
