Agartala, March 17(FD) All the 13 MLAs of ‘Tipra Motha’ Friday took the oath of office and secrecy in Tripura assembly in presence of its Supremo and royal scion of Tripura’s Manikya family, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.
Pro-tem speaker Benoy Bhusan Das administered the oath of office to them.
After the official swearing in Debbarma said, that his party cannot wait whole life for appointment of the promised ‘interlocutor’ by union home ministry to go into the demands and grievances of the tribal people of Tripura.
“Everyone should remember that in case ‘Tipra Motha’ had not contested the polls, the BJP would have won 50 seats of the assembly” said Pradyot. He thus sought to dispel the impression that but for ‘Tipra Motha’ the opposition CPI (M) and Congress would have won the just-concluded assembly polls.
Meanwhile, Debbarma announced formation of a five-member committee, headed by Bijoy Hrankhawl, the president of the tribal based party to evaluate its performance in the recent Assembly elections.
Party president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl is one of the panelists, along with Jagadish Debbarma, Mevar Kumar Jamatia, Rajeswar Debbarma, and Buddhu Debbarma.
"The committee will review the party's performance in the polls and give its recommendations within the next two months to strengthen the unit at the grass-roots level," he said.
A regional party called Tipra Motha, which was founded in 2021, was successful in winning 13 of the 42 seats up for election in the House of 60 members.
In the recently held election, Pradyot’s party has fielded 42 candidates out of 60 seats and among these 13 candidates won.
He further wrote in social media, “Don’t give up don’t compromise! We are here because of our people. We are motivated because this time the poor tiprasa voter in the village has shown the entire northeast how to fight for your rights #Tipra”. FD JK
