More farmers are coming under Fasal Yojana scheme: Ratan

Agartala, Mar 26 (FD) When the Tripura government aims to double the income of the farmers has also concentrated to bring them under insurance schemes, said state agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath.
Replying to a question raised by BJP MLA Mailafru Mog, Nath said altogether 14.37 lakh and 937 farmers from across the state had registered their names under the ‘OM Fasal Bima Yojana.
He said, “But this is not enough as we want to bring more peasants under insurance scheme. The state Government has also introduced a special supplementary scheme – Mukhya Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana from 2020-21”.
Nath also said that in this scheme farmers also can insure their crops by paying only Rs. 10 per kani and rest of the premium is Rs. 210, which is paid by the government.
He said, for this purpose the state government has incurred an expense of Rs. 32.75 crores so far from the year 2021 to 2024 for giving installments and subsidy.
The farmers of potato and watermelon are also coming under the scheme, he added. FD JK
