Agartala, May 15 (FD) Senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, and the Tripura government reviewed the progress of the ambitious Light House Project in Agartala and directed the executing agency to ensure its timely completion.
According to a press release issued by the Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority (TUDA), a high-level team led by Kuldip Narayan, IAS, Joint Secretary, MoHUA, visited the project site on May 11 at 9 AM to assess the ongoing construction work.
The delegation included R. K. Gautam, IAS, Deputy Director General (DDG), MoHUA, Dr. Milind Ramteke, IAS, Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Government of Tripura, Megha Jain, IAS, Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Mihir Kanti Gop, IAS, Commissioner of TUDA, along with other senior officials from both the Centre and the state government.
Representatives of M/S Mitsumi Housing Pvt. Ltd., the construction agency responsible for the project, were also present during the inspection and subsequent review meeting.
Following the site visit, a detailed meeting was convened under the chairmanship of the Joint Secretary, MoHUA, where officials discussed the progress of the project and strategies for expediting the remaining construction work.
During the meeting, officials informed that a target has been set to complete the Ovo Blocks — Block-A and Block-F — before June 15, 2026. The construction agency assured the ministry and state officials that the deadline would be met as directed.
The agency further stated that Block-E and Block-G are expected to be completed by September 30, 2026, while efforts are underway to complete the remaining blocks at the earliest possible time.
The Light House Project is considered a significant urban housing initiative aimed at promoting modern and sustainable construction technologies in Tripura. FD SB
