Agartala, Sept 15 (FD) Preparations are underway for the 29th National Youth Festival 2026, also known as the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD), with a high-level meeting held today at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by Tripura’s Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy in the presence of senior state officials, Zilla Parishad chairpersons, and representatives from various departments.
The festival is being organized with financial assistance from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the initiative of the State Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. The festival will feature two major tracks – the Cultural and Innovation Track and the Viksit Bharat Challenge Track – with district and state-level competitions across categories such as folk music, dance, painting, poetry, story writing, declamation, and science innovation fairs.
Minister Roy highlighted that the event is part of India’s mission to achieve the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”. In Tripura, a digital quiz competition has already begun under the Viksit Bharat Challenge Track, with over 1,700 participants registered. District-level competitions will run from September 1 to October 31, followed by state-level contests in November and December.
The grand finale of the VBYLD 2nd Edition will take place in New Delhi from January 10–12, 2026, where over 3,000 participants, including international delegates from BIMSTEC countries, will take part. The state-level celebration of the National Youth Day will be held at Nazrul Kalakshetra, Agartala.
In addition, youth rallies, marathons, sports equipment distribution, and special welfare camps for differently-abled citizens are planned across districts. Minister Roy appealed for collective efforts to ensure the success of the upcoming festival, which aims to empower youth voices and encourage their direct contribution to building a developed India.
