Minister Reviews Tripura's Preparedness for Kharif Marketing Season 2026–27

Agartala, July 28 (FD) Tripura Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting with empanelled rice mill owners to assess the state's preparedness for the upcoming Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2026–27 and ensure the smooth implementation of the Custom Milled Rice (CMR) programme.
The meeting, held at the Civil Secretariat, was attended by the Principal Secretary of the Food Department, the department's Director and other senior officials. Discussions focused on the timely production of quality Custom Milled Rice, strict adherence to prescribed quality standards, and effective coordination among all stakeholders involved in the procurement process.
Addressing the meeting, Chowdhury underscored the importance of maintaining quality while completing milling operations within the stipulated timeframe. He urged rice mill owners to work in close coordination with the department to ensure efficient, uninterrupted and transparent processing.
The review also focused on strengthening transparency, accountability and operational efficiency in the procurement and supply chain of Custom Milled Rice. Officials deliberated on measures to enhance monitoring mechanisms, streamline procurement procedures and remove operational bottlenecks to facilitate the seamless movement of food grains.
Reaffirming the state government's commitment to an efficient Public Distribution System (PDS), the minister called for collective efforts to ensure the timely procurement, milling and distribution of quality food grains to beneficiaries across Tripura through the successful implementation of the CMR programme.
