Agartala, Aug 2 (FD) A nationwide movement to build a healthier and addiction-free India has gained fresh momentum with the launch of the 100-week 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan', an initiative inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campaign aims to encourage young people to stay away from substance abuse while contributing towards the vision of a developed India.
Addressing the initiative, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the campaign reflects the government's strong commitment to creating a drug-free society through awareness, participation, and collective responsibility. He emphasized that the youth play a vital role in shaping the country's future and must lead the fight against drug addiction.
The minister virtually participated in the '10 Crore Nasha Mukt Pratigya Maha Abhiyan', organized at Rabindra Bhavan by the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya on the occasion of the 19th Memorial Day of Rajyogini Dadi Prakashmani Ji. The event witnessed the participation of social workers, volunteers, students, and members of the public who pledged to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs.
The campaign is being conducted with the support of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. It seeks to educate communities about the dangers of substance abuse while promoting healthy lifestyles, positive values, and social responsibility.
Speaking on the occasion, Sushanta Chowdhury urged citizens to actively participate in the campaign and inspire others to take the pledge for a drug-free India. He stated that the success of the initiative depends on the collective efforts of families, educational institutions, social organizations, and government agencies.
The minister also highlighted that awareness campaigns, counselling programmes, and community participation are essential to protecting the younger generation from the dangers of addiction. He called upon every citizen to become an ambassador of the movement and contribute towards building a safer and healthier society.
The 100-week Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan is expected to strengthen the nationwide fight against substance abuse while reinforcing the vision of Viksit Bharat. The initiative encourages every individual to take a pledge for a drug-free future, ensuring that the coming generations inherit a healthier, safer, and brighter India. FD SB
