Mega Skill Drive Launched to Empower Youth with Job Skills

Agartala, April 12 (FD) In a bid to empower the youth with practical skills and improve their employability, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the Mega Skill Awareness and Placement Drive at the Shelter House premises near Mohanpur Block Office.
Speaking at the event, Minister Nath emphasized that the government, both at the state and central levels, is committed to nurturing young talent through targeted skill development initiatives. “Academic success alone isn’t enough. Today’s youth must also possess essential workplace skills,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of the Prime Minister’s Skill Development Scheme in promoting financial independence and job readiness among young job seekers.
The program saw participation from key officials including Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subhash Dutta, Panchayat Samiti Chairman Rakesh Deb, Municipal Council Chairperson Anita Debnath, District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, and others.
A total of 263 candidates applied for 298 job vacancies offered by reputed private firms such as Ray Construction, Pran, Evergreen, Longtarai, and DS Group. Additionally, over 3,100 youths enrolled for various skill training courses under the initiative.
Organized jointly by the Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Administration, Lefunga and Mohanpur RD Blocks, Mohanpur Municipal Council, and the Department of Skill Development, the drive is a step toward building a skilled and self-reliant workforce in Tripura. FD SB
