Agartala, Apr 23 (FD) Pranab Sarkar, former secretary of the Agartala Press Club and esteemed media figure, narrowly evaded a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by an imposter posing as a government official. Sarkar recounted receiving a deceptive call from an individual claiming to be "P. Banerjee" from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), falsely asserting a request for two mobile sets on behalf of an alleged undersecretary, Arup Deb.
Sensing foul play, Sarkar promptly verified the authenticity of the request with the Chief Minister's press secretary, Kamal Mallik, and even directly consulted the Chief Minister, only to discover the entire premise was fabricated. Swiftly, Sarkar alerted authorities, leading to a coordinated effort by the Agartala Police Cyber Cell, resulting in the apprehension of the perpetrator, identified as freelance photographer Pallab Nag.
Nag, currently under interrogation, was lured into a trap set by Sarkar, who acted with prudence and decisiveness, ensuring justice prevailed. With Sarkar's commitment to pursuing the case, justice is poised to be served, safeguarding the community against such malicious schemes. FD SB
