MBB airport upgraded to higher grade, CM congratulates PM Modi

Agartala, Jan 18 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has elevated the status of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala to a higher grade, based on passenger movement and infrastructure development.
In a Facebook post yesterday, Dr. Saha also praised the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for the upgradation of the airport and related infrastructure.
A circular issued by the AAI stated, “It has been decided to upgrade the category of the airports at Agartala, Bhopal, Madurai, Surat, Udaipur, and Vijayawada from Grade III to Grade II.”
MBB Airport, the second busiest airport in the northeastern region after Guwahati Airport, will now enjoy a status comparable to that of Guwahati. The airport currently handles 14 flights and 4,000 passengers daily.
In his Facebook post, the Chief Minister wrote, “It is a matter of great pride that MBB Airport, Agartala, has been upgraded from Grade III to Grade II based on passenger movement and infrastructure development. My gratitude to PM Narendra Modi ji for his continuous support for the all-round development of Tripura.” FD JK
