Agartala, Aug 07 (FD) In a significant breakthrough, Tripura Police intercepted a 12-wheeler truck near Churaibari based on a credible tip-off, unearthing a massive cache of marijuana (ganja) worth a staggering Rs. 40 lakh.
Officer-in-Charge Samaresh Das of the Churaibari police station was in charge of the operation, which led to the recovery of 43 packages of ganja that totaled over 300 kg and had been hidden within a secret chamber of the truck.
Samaresh Das said that "one person was arrested in this connection, identified as a citizen of Uttar Pradesh".
The truck, en route to Assam from Agartala, was apprehended in what appears to be an attempt to smuggle the contraband substance across state borders.
The accused will face legal proceedings, and authorities are likely to delve further into the network behind this operation. The successful intervention serves as a testament to law enforcement's ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and upholding the rule of law. FD SB JK
