London: Unseeded Marketa Vondrousova thumped Ons Jabeur 6-4 6-4 to win the Wimbledons womens singles final after showcasing her classy spin and drop shots on the Centre Court here on Saturday.
Marketa became the first ever womens player in the open era to win the title unseeded.
This was an out-of-the-box victory by the Czech player, especially when the spectators were rooting for Jabeur to crown herself with the title after she had lost it to Elena Rybakina in last years summit clash.
Marketa was four points away from her first slam title and she got the first with Jabeur making another error. A drop shot put her within two shots and her sister started to cry with the anticipation of her winning.
Marketa had three championship points, and she failed to get it the time of asking with a double fault, but she did it the second time.
